Last November North Yorkshire Council announced its plans to allocate 10% of its expected £10 million Second Homes Council Tax Premiums to community-led housing projects across the county. The Community Land Trust Network is now calling for councils across England to follow suit, generating a potential additional £10 million a year for community-led housing and the delivery of approximately 300 additional social rent homes each year.
As CLT Network members working locally, you can take action and write to your council, asking them to pledge to allocate 10% of income from second homes council tax to community-led projects in your area.
